Skill Levels
Beginning Lessons for Kids
We make learning to sing fun from the very first lesson!
Beginner vocal lessons always include foundational teaching in the basics: breathing, tone, pitch, rhythm etc.
For our younger ones, we incorporate fun vocal and music theory games to keep interest and enthusiasm high. Sometimes they have so much fun they don't even realize they are learning important vocal techniques.
All beginner vocalistsspend time learning to sight read music and develop their own unique sound.
Even our very youngest students participate in recitals to learn to perform in front of others. The praise and acknowledgement of their achievements in group performances help young singers to improve and grow.
Intermediate Lessons for Kids
Once a vocal student has a thorough foundation in the basics of singing:
Intermediate vocal lessons for kids may begin.
Voice students are provided with an education of healthy singing concepts through all major musical genres.
Lessons will continue to build on the concepts of posture, breathe, tone, and music theory.
More advanced subjects such as: diction, vocal anatomy, and vocal registers will be introduced.
All vocalists will have a general understanding of how their bodies create sound and how to change that sound stylistically.
Students will gain confidence in their abilities to create music of their own.
Advanced Lessons for Kids
Advanced vocal lessons for kids offer:
A thorough study of the voice, how it works, and what it can do. By building on already learned basic music theory, we continue to master complex theory concepts and musicianship.
An advanced student will learn to tell stories through a variety of musical genres, including: classical, pop, jazz, soul, musical theater, and rock.
Healthy singing habits and care of the voice are top priorities for all students and teachers at Creative Melodies. Our teachers can help you prep for an audition or performance, learn a new type of style, or continue your vocal knowledge so you can enjoy your voice as much as possible!

We offer in-home vocal lessons in Fort Mill, South Carolina and surrounding areas, including:

How do you provide online lessons?
We use modern video conferencing software to connect with students online.
We find that the best candidates for a successful online music lesson experience are self-motivated teenagers and passionate children who really want to learn.
A basic understanding of music can help overcome the initial learning curve best addressed in an in-person setting, but is not necessary in order to begin online vocal lessons.

What ages do you teach?
We teach children as young as four years old to sing (and we teach adults, too! Check out our Lessons for Adults).
What skill levels do you teach?
Our vocal lessons range from no singing experience at all to beginner to intermediate to advanced. We match each student to the instructor best suited to their skill level and goals.
What instruction curriculum do you teach?
The short answer is that we customize the curriculum for each student according to their experience level, interests, and goals.
Our instructors don't just walk you through the lessons in a book...we use a variety of tools including flash cards, sheet music, mirrors, exercise bands, and technology! And especially with children, we often get them out of their seat to play games to help them learn music theory.
What happens if I miss a lesson?
We understand that emergencies happen, as do vacations and holidays. Communication is key to making sure that an instructor doesn't arrive at your residence when you aren't able to keep a lesson (and vice versa if an instructor is sick or has an emergency). You can read a summary of our student policies to find out how to handle reschedulings and make-up lessons, and your Lesson Agreement will detail contact information and information as well.
How often do you host recitals?
Recitals represent important milestones in a student's education, and our instructors enjoy the opportunity to celebrate our students' accomplishments!
Creative Melodies typically hosts a total of around 5 recitals each year, combining smaller informal recitals in student family homes or coffee shops as well as formal recitals.

How much do lessons cost?
We aim to make learning to play an instrument affordable and offer several tuition packages. Our pricing packages vary by lesson duration. You can even split your lesson plan between siblings or instruments!
